Or mayby I have missed a way to do this?  For large projects it takes
some time to rebuild the whole TAGS table, so if would be nice if you
could have ctags rescan just one file and replace those tags.  I
believe etags doesn't look at any interactions between argument files
so it should be possible to do this.  Admittedly emacs users can
achieve some of the same functionality by using included tag tables,
but this is pretty awkward and doesn't help vi users.

Sorry for the delay in getting to this.

This behavior is not presently supported for Exuberant Ctags.
I will consider it for the future, but it would be very
difficult to support in conjunction with the -R option.
