mingetty should have an option that allows using of non-standard issue file (for example, /etc/issue-linuxlogo)
severity 143580 wishlist tag 143580 wontfix thanks If you add many options to mingetty it won't be minimal any more. If you're wanting anything more than minimal functionality, you really should be using the normal getty, which does support what you request.
Just a comment - mingetty having current options recognizing escape options ia not already minimal. I think defining alternative issue is not such a big problem, it would probably take much less code then all other capabilities (maybe except --noclear, but I'm not sure even) Just an opinion, though.
There's got to be a "this far, and no further" point. Keeping the size of mingetty low has to be the primary concern (after fixing bugs). All of these "features" were added before 1996, and there would probably be an outcry if they were removed now.
