ibritish&iamerican don't know some words: echolalia epistemic explanandum explanans hominid nativistic And two technical terms from Philosophy of Mind: eliminativism (see http://www.artsci.wustl.edu/~philos/MindDict/eliminativism.html) qualia (see http://www.artsci.wustl.edu/~philos/MindDict/qualia.html)

The ispell author recommends that obscure words not be used for spell checkers, and I tend to agree with his advice. I wouldn't want to add these only for debian, and I suspect upstream would reject them -- but I'll try passing them to him if you find they're not already in the large ispell dictionaries. Let me know what you think (and what you find); thanks.

* David Coe <davidc@debian.org> [2002-07-01 23:20]: dictionaries. Perhaps you can pass these words on: explanandum explanans And two technical terms from Philosophy of Mind: eliminativism (see http://www.artsci.wustl.edu/~philos/MindDict/eliminativism.html) qualia (see http://www.artsci.wustl.edu/~philos/MindDict/qualia.html) Also, perhaps a README.Debian would be nice which would describe how to generate a large dictionary?
But ispell is able to guess that it's re+occur+ing. (or isn't this a bug?)
Interesting; with the current (Debian unstable) 3.1.20.0-3, using *either* iamerican or ibritish, it suggests 'reoccurring' as the correct spelling. Is 'reoccuring' correct in british?
No, "reoccurring" would be standard in British English; I don't recall seeing "reoccuring". oxforddictionaries.com agrees. Wiktionary gives "reoccuring" as a "common misspelling of reoccurring".
