I have an older 'testing' system which has nvtv 0.4.0-1 and xfree86 4.2.1.
I was having some trouble getting the overscan settings right (modes other
than the predefined ones gave me a corrupted screen), so I tried upgrading
to 0.4.4-1 to see if it improved the situation. I found that with that
version, the underscan area (TV area not occupied by the video image) was
bright purple, whereas before it had been black. This was very disruptive
to viewing. Switching back to 0.4.0-1 brought back the old behaviour.

The hardware is:

Hi Matt...

This bug is rather old, nvtv is now at version 0.4.7 and I suppose it
should be fixed upstream. Could you please tell me if it persists or
not?

Salud,
