Xscreensaver has some cool toys with it, which is OK. What's not OK is that I keep on seeing new modes without asking for them in my .xscreensaver file. It seems to be turning on new modes by default. As I've deliberately de-configured some modes in the past to help avoid crashes with buggy Xservers, this is _really_ annoying...
Steve McIntyre wrote: If you're saying that modes that you have un-checked are becoming checked again, then that's a bug. If you're saying that *newly added* modes that show up with new releases of xscreensaver are checked by default, then that is intentional, and is the only sensible thing to do (otherwise, nobody would know they were there.)
I see that Jamie has responded to this, but just in the BTS. I hadn't spotted that until today. Adding new modes is all well and good, but a command line option (or similar) to control exactly which modes are used would be nice. I'll even write a patch to do that if it'll help...
Current are 3.34 and/or 4.16, and since you filed the bug against an older version I'd like to ask you to verify if the bug persists in the new version as well.
reopen 210857 thanks <snip> There's nothing in either the Debian changelog or the upstream README to suggest that anything's happened to close this bug, so I'm reopening it for now. I've recently edited my .xscreensaver file anyway, so I wouldn't have seen the bug lately. I'll let you know...
Hi Steve, This bug is very old and I would like to know if still persists, I haven't seen this bug and I would like to clean the BTS of `xscreensaver'. Regards, Jose Luis.
