If I want to generate a file whose name contains underscores (or probably any other chars special to LaTeX), and I use a named root chunk for this, then the file generated by "noweave -latex" cannot be processed since those chars are not quoted, and cause syntax errors. It can be worked around by sed'ing the generated TeX, but that's ugly.

Cool! FWIW, at least '$' is to be treated the same way. Thanks much,
hi, this is what norman ramsey told me. i have already tagged this bug "wontfix" but if you agree i'd like to add a note to README.Debian and close it. """ This is in the FAQ. It is a feature, not a bug. The ability to put mathematical formulae in chunk names is more important than accomodating people who can't be bothered to filter or otherwise fix their file names.
