It would be great if mairix would let me do hardlinks rather than symlinks. Then I could delete the main directory after processing and have a wonderfully sorted hierarchy.

Hello, here's another possible use for hardlinks: I receive a lot of mail, so at some point I need to archive old messages, and I run archivemail that moves old messages away in a compressed mailbox. I have different archival policies for every different mail folder. Most probably, I would like some relevant mairix folders to live longer than the folders they reference. If I do symlinks, when old mail gets archived I'm left with dangling symlinks. If they were hardlinks instead, then they would keep surviving. This approach would be much better than keeping the search results in mboxes (which works, because it forces copying), because it would save much space. Ciao, Enrico
