The current UI makes it a default that all the IMAP folders are checked for new mail (if the account is checked for the new mail). To disable it, one has to select each folder separately in the folder list, and disable the checking for it. In my case (tens of folders with only 5 different ones that I want to poll) it is a really boring task; any time I re-create the profile it has to be repeated. Vassilii
Close kmail, and open ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc in your favorite editor. Replace true to false in every line checkmail=true for each IMAP folder you don't want to poll - this was much quicker than the GUI in my case.
Hi, The Debian Qt/KDE team is trying to update the bug status of some old bugs in the BTS, and I'm helping with this task. Some time ago, you've reported bug number 253842 "kmail: please provide a central (not per-folder) way to manage IMAP folders to check" to Debian's Bug Tracking System. You can read the bug report at: http://bugs.debian.org/253842 We are sorry if nobody responded when you filed the bug, KDE has gotten more bugs in the past years than the maintainers could handle. The team is trying to fix this now, but we need your help. So please respond to this mail and tell us if: - you are still experiencing this bug (adding in what version) - the bug was already fixed (if known, in which version), - or if you have extra information on how reproduce this bug. Thank you for your cooperation! Olivier Vitrat helper for the Debian Qt/KDE team

I haven't used kmail for quite a while, having switched to mutt and sometimes thunderbird, following too many crashes of kmail and frequent need to recreate corrupted profiles. I believe that my original mail on this bug thread was clear enough for any current user to see if it is still a current bug. Vassilii
