If I use pon (as delivered by the base system) to start up a PPP connection,
wmppp notices this and activates itself just fine. When I stop the connection
with poff, then wmppp displays "error" in its time field and a small red LED
next to it. It seems to mistake the poff command for a line drop due to some
other error. wmppp displays its normal idle state as soon as I click its
"close" button.

Hi everyone,

I decided to fix a couple of bugs for the Debian package of wmppp. I
realize these bugs are both very old, but 2 less open bugs is a Good
Thing right?

The attached patch is to the Debian source package of wmppp.app

Cheers,
Chris

Hi,

I just adopted wmppp, and I'm looking over old bug reports. As a long
time *user* of wmppp, I can definitely say that I've noticed this
behavior before (red error msg when poff is called separately). On
the other hand, it *is* purely cosmetic.

Chris Grey sent in a patch for this. However, I want to investigate a
little further before applying his patch. In particular, I want to
make sure that wmppp still displays 'error' if the line *does* drop
unexpectedly. And if there's no way for wmppp to distinguish those
cases (which I'm afraid may be true), then I'm not sure but what it's
better the way it is.

Since this is basically a cosmetic issue, I'm downgrading the severity
of the bug to "wishlist". But I'm not planning to ignore it; I'll
investigate further, and decide what to do when I know more.

cheers
