Hi,
The message came from a child xdm process (pid 4654, the one sourcing Xreset)
running the atexit() handler that removes the pid file; the parent (pid 4628)
is the one that owns it. Upstream commit 3a4f890
("Don't remove the pid file from xdm child processes", xdm 1.1.10)
makes that handler a no-op outside the parent xdm process. It is the
same fix that closed #372114 in 1:1.1.10-1, so I'm closing this bug
with that version.
Please reopen if you still see this message with a current xdm.
Thanks,
Boyuan
