When selecting "Repositories" from the "Settings" menu a dialog box pops up that reads "REPOSITORIES CHANGED: The repository information has changed. You have to click on the 'Reload' button for your changes to take effect." I then click on close (to close the dialog box) followed by the "reload" button. After that, I again select "Repositories" from the "Settings" menu and the whole process repeats itself. In other words, Synaptic is not letting you access the Repositories from within the program like it normally would. Fortunatly, one can always viewing and editing the sources.list file directly.
I can't reproduce this behavior. Maybe synaptic has a problem parsing your sources.list. Could you try moving your sources.list temporarily and using a fresh sources.list (such as apt's example sources.list) before trying to reproduce? If that inhibits the bug, please submit your sources.list so we can try to reproduce and eventually identify why synaptic has an issue with your sources.list.

Hi, I'm also having the same problem since I updated my system on Monday or Tuesday this week. I've tried the example sources.list, as well as several others, and even no sources.list at all, but still get the same result. Regards, Andrew

Hi Michael, Yes I do have update-manager installed. Uninstalling it fixed the problem immediately, even without purging. Reinstalling update-manager brings the problem straight back. It seems the two co-existing on the same system causes this bug with synaptic alright. Hope this helps. Regards, Andrew

Thank you for this thread. Difficult to find this specific issue by Googling, but this thread led to the solution for me and I wanted to share it with anyone else who might also have the problem. It wasn’t “update-manager” that caused the problem for me, i.e. “update-manager” wasn’t even installed, but removing "software-properties-gtk", which was installed, resolved Synaptic issue of Synaptic not showing repo list. Hi, we working on Huayra GNU/Linux a derivated distro from debian. At this time our 3.1 release is made over jessie. I found this behavior on the repository configuration screen of synaptic. we solved it adding the correct *.info and *.mirrors files into /usr/share/python-apt/templates i know that is a very old bug, but maybe this info can be useful for other people.
