Hi!!!

Well, not really a bug... rather a wish... ;)

Suppose you are working on, say, 8 VCs, with remote logins and several other
applications running on them. You are going to leave the computer for a
while, so you want to lock them, but you would like to let the un-used
VCs unlocked, just in case someone else NEEDS to use the computer while
you are out.

In such situation there is no way to say: "lock VCs x to y, and also z,
but leave the rest unlocked". I don't think it is an easy task, but...
it is nice, isn't it?

Another one; easier, I think: when I use vlock, I don't like casual
people seeing what was in the console previously the vlock, so I end
up writing "clear;vlock -a". It would be nice if vlock cleaned the
screen by itself. And, well, even NICER if it would be able to resto-
re the screen after authentification (although, in that case, probably
it would be necessary to make vlock suid root again in order to read
the vcs's... >:> ).

I think thats all. Thanx for your time!

Juan-Mariano.

I have left the project and do no longer maintain any Debian packages.

Well, at least part of your bug report is now fixed:

`vlock' 1.0-7 does just that, but it doesn't need to be setuid
root if you are using `login' version 970616-1 or greater.

Both `vlock_1.0-7' and `login_970616-1' are available in
the unstable tree of any Debian mirror.

Hi,

can you take a look at the following URLs that contain feature
requests for vlock.

Martin Schulze writes:

This partial locking is simply impossible. The clearing should be
done with an alias, there is no reason for vlock to be mucked up
with such unrelated code. The man page suggests "open vlock -a"
for this kind of situation.

I'm taking clean patches.
