Just installed Thunderbird, and when creating a new account it asks for
my mailaddress. The default is: "thijs@(none)". Well, it guessed my
username right, but the domain could also have easily been read from the
/etc/mailname file. That would make my full mail address completely
autodetected, would be very nice!

I hope this can be incorporated into a next version of the package.

Thanks,
Thijs

Hello Alexander,

I'm not really sure I agree with you... you needn't submit it upstream,
but Debian has an established tradition of making its packages work as
good as possible with respect to Debian-specific things. That's why
quite some other packages use /etc/mailname to guess such things, and
they use a Debian-specific patch for it.

Can't Thunderbird have a Debian-specific patch for this?

thanks,
Thijs

If you come up with such a patch, I would be happy to apply it.
