After running evolution for some time it's almost certain that after
displaying one of the messages it's going to display
"Formatting message (...)" in the status bar continuously and will not
update the preview pane. That is until I restart evo.

There isn't any particular information at the console in during this
happening.

I've seen couple of people have encountered this behaviour. The
problem's been around for quite a while now across couple of recent
versions. Maybe longer, but I cannot confirm that.

Hi Martin,

I've seen this problem too. It seems to be triggered by HTML Mail. As a
workaround, make sure you have 'Never load images from the Internet' in
'Preferences -> Mail Preferences'

Cheers,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,

This is not an acceptable workaround. HTML messages with image links are quite common today and most mail clients supports them. However, I've seen this problem with huge mails containing no images. Setting mail size limitation seems not help in this case (using 1MB limit)

Cheers
Mazen,

I seem to have worked around this bug by unchecking "Show the photograph
of sender in the message preview" in Preferences->Mail
Preferences->Headers. That functionality never seemed to do anything for
me anyway.
