It would be really cool if rescue-mode would support encrypted disks.
A first step would be to go through the list of partitions found and
determine wether they are actually encrypted. Ideally it would then
offer the user to open them.

If I can be of any more assistance don't hesitate to ask :)

retitle 404261 rescue-mode: should support loop-aes and plain dm-crypt encrypted disks
thanks

Hi!

Revision 48584 in the debian-installer repository introduced support for
activating LUKS encrypted partitions in rescue-mode. This should be
available in the upcoming version 1.12.

This does not cover all encryption method supported by the
debian-installer, so let's keep this bug open until then. However, it
fits the encrypted disk guided partitioning, which probably covers most
of less experienced crypto users.

Cheers,
