When composing mail, it is not possible to choose the charset of
attachments; IceDove never asks for it nor specifies it.  This is a
problem for text attachments which the MUA of the recipient can display
inline, since it then has no way to determine the right charset.  See

the problem described before is still persistent and as there is no extension
available at addons.mozilla.org to cure this "misbehaviour" I'd like to ask if
there is something in the pipeline to address this issiu.

Additionally to what was stated before it was noticed that there seems to be
problems with the inline send attachments even if they are of the same encoding
as the one set for the text part.My system (as you can see from the information
provided below) is running with all settings to UTF-8 and if I check the PO-file
which caused the trouble before sending with »file« it is recognized as "UTF-8
Unicode Text". Also the available settings for outgoing e-mails are set to
UTF-8. But other people seem to have problems with the data (for example the
PO-file was received as "ascii-us").
The PO file was edited with vim. vims character encoding option is set to UTF-8.
