Problem example: Greping processes: root 1874 0.0 0.0 3112 580 ? Ss 00:56 0:00 dhclient3 -pf /var/run/dhclient.eth2.pid -lf /var/lib/dhcp3/dhclient.eth2.leases eth2 Then, you give: kill 1874 And of course the process is gone from the process list. But the /var/run pid file remains there: mordor:/lib/modules# l /var/run/dh* -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5 2007-02-24 00:56 /var/run/dhclient.eth2.pid mordor:/lib/modules# I guess this should not happen. Pid file should be gone...
Hi, This bug was reported in Debian, and from a quick peruse of the source code, I can't find much evidence in the way of signal handlers at all. Either way, it seems that dhclient could do a better job of cleaning up after itself if it is terminated. The lock file being left behind doesn't seem to cause any problems though. Please maintain the Cc line to keep our BTS in the loop. regards Andrew----- Forwarded message from "Giorgos D. Pallas" <gpall@ccf.auth.gr> ----- From: "Giorgos D.
