The problem is shown in the attached screenshot regards, Davide
For me, with version 2.21-1, hyphens are completely invisible when I use DejaVu Sans italic at 10pt.
Hi Daniel, it could be that after installation your cache got messed up, so restarting would help. It'd be great if you could provide a screenshot showing your problem. regards, Davide
This has been happening for me for a couple weeks now, through several restarts. I've attached a screenshot of kmail exhibiting the problem, which is how I ran into it. I can also reproduce it with kword displaying DejaVu Sans italic 10 pt.
Hi Daniel, can you try to see if "fc-cache -f" fixes it? thanx, Davide
Hi, this was a bug in the hinting instructions in DejaVu. It's fixed now in SVN and in our next version which is planned for December 9 (if you cannot wait that long, it's also available in our snapshots at http://dejavu.sourceforge.net/snapshots starting from tomorrow). Thanks for reporting, Ben
I can't really reproduce the bug mentioned in #413571. As saif in the bug log, this has probably been fixed upstream meanwhile.
Hi Christian, the BR was open for a problem with hypens, sometimes aligned ot the right, sometimes to the left: dejapu people are aware of this and said it shoul be pretty hard to fix, but it is a bug. Later on Daniel S. said he could no see hypens at all; this does not happen anylonger, but the original problem is still there. regards, Davide bubulle@debian.org [Pkg-fonts-devel] Bug#413571: Bug fixed? mentioned in #413571. While packaging the latest SVN snapshot from upstream DejaVu SVN, I confirmed that Debian bug #413571, where the hyphen is sometimes too close to the letter on its right in Sans Oblique, is still here. See attached screenshot.
Hi Christian, Am Sonntag, den 31.03.2013, 11:59 +0200 schrieb Christian PERRIER: thanks for your recent work on this package! However, please remove the "Provides: ..." lines from the new fonts-* packages. They *do not* provide the fonts under the same file names as the ttf-* packages. Also, fonts-dejavu still mentions ttf-* in its short description. - Fabian
Quoting Fabian Greffrath (fabian@greffrath.com): I'm indeed pondering compatibility symlinks. Have we done that for other packages already? I was under the feeling that it had been done but I can't find good examples.
Fonts-liberation, i think. We even had a bug report about this. Von Samsung Mobile gesendet Quoting Fabian Greffrath (fabian@greffrath.com): I'm indeed pondering compatibility symlinks. Hi Christian, I've seen you solved this by symlinking the old and new font directories. This practice is highly discouraged, please c.f. http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2012/10/msg00070.html I'd like to change that directory symlink to per-file symlinks in the transitional packages. Are you alright with that change? http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=689575 - Fabian
Quoting Fabian Greffrath (fabian@greffrath.com): Grmbl. Not being online doesn't help me to check this but, at first glance, I need to be convinced that a simple solution is discouraged in favor of a complicated one (which will, over time, bring problems for maintenance). Will read that link, though.
Control: reassign -1 fonts-dejavu Reassigning after the transitional package got dropped. Thanks, Guillem
