I'd like to be able to see the serial no. and firmware revision (as
output by the ide_info command) in the device information tab. Also, the
model number on my laptop's SATA hard drive seems to be truncated in the
device information.

GParted contains information that is viewable by selecting the "View -->
Device Information" menu option.

Is this the information you are seeking?

If not then what command would provide the information on recent
GNU/Linux distributions?
Note that ide_info does not appear to be available on recent GNU/Linux
releases.

Control: reopen -1
Control: retitle -1 gparted: show serial numbers and firmware revision

The model string is shown and no longer truncated.

However, the serial number and firmware revision is still missing.

So, I'm reopening this bug and retitling to the current status.

Curtis, you have to CC submitters otherwise they won't see your mail,
I only just saw your mail on the gparted bug because Phillip closed it.

These days `smartctl -x /dev/sda` can be used to display the info.
