If there are popup windows in the pdf file xpdf shows a question in a red circle (I don't know if there is a possiblity in xpdf to activate them, but it does not matter) and xpdf also puts those question marks in circle into the postscript when printing or converting using pdftops, when the pdf files says so (which some pdf files in the wild do so annoyingly, I suppose acroread does some javascript that finaly removes them or something like that, so nobody seems to care to fix those). It would be nice if xpdf and pdftops had possibilites to suppress those annotations. Attached patch does this. (At least it works here). It adds a -noannots to pdftops and pdftoppm and an checkbox into the xpdf print dialog to suppress those. Hochachtungsvoll, Bernhard R. Link
Hi, Bernhard. I am interested in keeping xpdf alive in Debian and I am in the process of integrating patches. One of them would be yours, but I don't have any PDF file with annotations. Do you happen to have one so that I can see how things work? Thank you very much, Rogério Brito.

tag 440080 moreinfo , unreproducible thanks ping: can you provide an example file to reproduce this? otherwise, i don't know what i'd be fixing. thanks. mike
reassign 440080 poppler thanks we are now using poppler in xpdf, and most of this code applies to code that is no longer built here. it is built in poppler. best wishes, mike

Looks like there isn't interest in this anymore (as it was reassigned over a year ago and the submitter has yet to respond).
reopen 440080 thanks * Debian Bug Tracking System <owner@bugs.debian.org> [110912 03:57]: Looks like I didn't respond to the bug report, only privately. I'm more interested in this than before, as I get quite a lot complains about this recently. Please let me know if you need anything to do something against the problem. Bernhard R. Link
