since this version icedove does not load the links specified in rss
feeds. but it is able to display the descriptions stored in the feed
item.

this doesn't work even for local (http://127.0.0.1) links.
wireshark shows that nothing is going out when clicking a feed item.

i tried -safe-mode, removing the locale, but that didn't help.

i tried moving .mozilla-thunderbird out of the way and it seem i don't
have the RSS news and blog option in the create account dialog.

thunderbird help says that i should check if rss support is
compiled in ...

it seems that the about:config options
mailnews.display.html_as and mailnews.display.prefer_plaintext were set
to only allow plain text messages to be viewed. but this setting also
inpact the news & blog account. so the integrated rss feed reader is partly unusable.


these settings were set by enigmail upon installation, i didn't expected
that the rss reader would be inpacted. and i don't think that enigmail's
author expected that too.

Hello Nicolas,

long long ago you opened up this bug.
No one appended some useful to catch this bug. Your reported version is
now in oldstable and not very near on actual releases.

Do you have still this problem with actual versions?
Maybe this bug is gone.

Dear maintainer.

This problem is only partially resolved on icedove:amd64 10.0.9-1. There
is now separate option for RSS feeds and email for viewing as HTML or
plain-text, except the RSS feeds settings does not have any effect, and
the email settings are used instead.

Step to reproduce:
- While selecting an email account folder, under the View menu, set
'Message Body As' to 'Plain Text'.

- While selecting an RSS feed (under a Blogs & News account, which can
be created in account settings: 'Create Other Account' -> 'Blog & News
feeds'),
select :
View -> Feed Message Body As -> Summary
and
View -> Feed Message Body As -> Original HTML

- Display an RSS entry (e.g. a Debian Planet entry): it is displayed as
plain text instead of being displayed as HTML.  The 'Feed Message Body
As' setting is not used, but the one from 'Message Body As' is used instead.
