In order to display accented characters correctly from file:///usr/share/doc/* urls (ie Debian-supplied documentation), I had to have the following settings in the lynx-cur options menu: Display and Character Set Use locale-based character set(!): [OFF] Display character set : [UNICODE (UTF-8)________________] Assumed document character set(!): [utf-8___________] Raw 8-bit (!) : [ON_] X Display (!) : :0_________________________________________ _ Should this setting be default for lynx-cur, or should there be an option to specify a default character set for file:/// url's?
Hi Arthur, You can save this setting in "~/.lynxrc". It is not enough for you? I don't think there is any option to specify something only for file:/// url's but I guess lynx-cur-wrapper might do what you want to some extent but, perhaps, not so clever yet. If you try it and find any improvement, please let me know. Sorry to be so late and thanks for your reporting. Regards, 2008-3-9(Sun)
