This happens all the time: I select a group with some unread messages, I
read messages, eventually the header pane shows no new messages but the
group pane claims that there are unread messages. Now:

  1) if I have selected to show killed (score -9999) messages, I can
unselect and then re-select "show only new messages", and after
that I see the "missing" new messages (which do not, in fact, have
score -9999) and can read them

   2) if I have selected to NOT show killed messages, I cannot make the
missing messages visible by any means I have tried

The attached pan --debug log is of a session where I start pan, wait for
it to get new messages, and then select a group with unread messages:
header pane is empty. I do the unselect-reselect thing (see point 1
above) and the messages become visible.

This problem happens on any of the groups I have subscribed, and on all
three news servers I have configured.

I will later try to see if I can get this to happen on a newly created
account: feel free to ping me in a couple of days (now I have to rush to
work). However, I have not been using pan for more than a month or two.

(Sorry if my references to menu commands etc are unclear; I am using the
Finnish locale and have to back-translate them.)
