I am not able to pick a resizing grab between message field and chat field to
resize the chat field. The chat field is only two lines high and I like it a
bit taller (4 lines or more)...

Worked with 2.3.x versions of pidgin

seems, this works as designed: I tried to compose a message with more
than two lines and the composing field grows. That works for me.

Maybe this bug is a wishlist bug only?

depending on the number of lines, BUT until a max of 4 lines.


This is definitely a usability downgrade for those cases when you need to send multiple lines of
text  and you'd prefer to review the entire message. Also, the fact that you can explicitly resize
the input box goes against what a regular person would expect.

Pidgin 2.4.1 modifies the input box resizing algorithm a bit so that it
will grow up to half the vertical size of the window. It seems to me
this would eliminate the need for a manual resize option; please let me
know if this is the case so I can close this bug.

I'd prefer the manual resize, but I'm probably going to be in the
minority after this new fix.

I also find this 'functionality' very annoying. I thought it was an
accidental interface breakage, and now I'm stunned to find out it was
actually deliberate. Although I understand that the algorithm is
probably very clever and neat, and many people will actually appreciate
its function, would it *please* be possible to include an option to
deactivate it? Pretty please?
