is described how to create PDF forms that can be editied with a PDF viewer.
Well, the article is in German, but essentially you could download the
ZIP archive
http://wwwmath.uni-landau.de/tutorials/pdfformulare/pdfform.zip
which contains LaTeX code and the resulting PDF which is an editable
form - at lieast under AcroRead (Windows version, editing does also not
work for me under Linux).  It would be great if Evince would support the
editing function and finally also enable saving the edited PDF (which
would be a real killer feature, because the free-beer AcroRead does
not permit this.

Hi,

Thanks for the bug report. Evince does support editing forms in general.
The document in the link actually crashes in Evince 2.22, so it's
definitely a bug. I have forwarded it upstream.

Saving an edited form works in Evince 2.22 (with Poppler 0.8) if you use
the "Save a copy" feature.

Ahh, this is new to me.

I tested some other documents which also did not work - but I think
I wait for a next version, perhaps this will be fixed as well.

I tried this, but the form I saved with a different name showed no
difference (using cmp) to the unchanged form - perhaps there is some
other problem.

Both Evince 2.22 and Poppler 0.8 is in unstable now.

I don't come across many documents with forms, so my experience is
pretty much limited to the ones linked to at the bottom of this page, do
they work for you? http://live.gnome.org/Evince/Forms

I'm not the maintainer, I just try to keep an eye on the bug reports :)

Hi Pedro,

I admit that it is possible to edit the PDF you linked to.  However,
I do not think that we should close the bug since the PDF I have
given (including the method to create it with free software tools)
remains not editable but should.

you're right. I tried to create a new pdf form file with libreoffice, I can
edit the form later but the result it's buggy.
