When used on http://www.viamichelin.fr:
In the window created through button "imprimer" (print), if I click on
button "imprimer" (print) the output is always in Letter format and the
default is set to Letter (instead of A4).

  its a long running nuisance that motivated me now to submit this bugreport,
  there seems no reliable way to tell iceweasel to print in A4 format... and
  with the actual version its even impossible, though knowing this bug, to
  change the format to A4, since the selector box for the page format
  vanished...

I confirm the bug, iceweasel seems do not save preference for Paper size A4.

I cannot print on A4 from *any* application, everything insists on letter and doesn't offer any other alternative. That means that I can't print at all, because my printer doesn't like letter. That said, I think severity of this bug should be reised significantly (after reassigning to wherever appropriate).

Following up on my previous message it occurs to me that I may be seeing something different than what this bug is describing. Indeed, I can't find an option to set a paper format in Iceweasel's print dialog either. It may be because there's only one (letter) and Iceweasel thinks it's logical not to offer choice when there's none, but who knows?

This there's-only-letter thing is annoying still. It would be strange if nobody reported it yet, so I'll try to find a more appropriate bug for my rants...

There is a patch in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156992 that
maybe should be included for Lenny.
Also, in comment 48 (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156992#c48)
there is a small sample HTML file to test this problem.
There is no need to print anything to test this, just save the files and compare.

Even though the bug I am reporting is most likely a different one, it is
about the same problem: Different paper formats. So I thought this would
be the appropriate venue.

My language settings are German. My menues are German. But when I print,
the default for the paper size is letter and hidden in a menu. If a
German user first attempts to print with a freshly installed Iceweasel,
they will always get an error, if they don't check for the settings
paper size settings during printing.

I believe this to be a bug, not a feature request. When a language pack
is installed in Iceweasel, the paper size should default to the paper
size that is used in the country the language is spoken in.
