Hi,
I'm running Debian Lenny (testing) i386 daily updated.
Month ago i was able to read pdf from a samba shared folder.
I mounted it with nautilus.

Now when I'm trying it, i get the message :
"Impossible d'ouvrir le document"
"Opération non supportée"
( Unable to open document, operation not supported)

I install the "gvfs" package and now i get this error :
"Impossible d'ouvrir le document"
"L'emplacement indiqué n'est pas monté"
(Unable to open document, location indicated is not mount)
(My system is in french so i'm not sure for the errors messages in english)

If I try with smbmount it works. (i.e. evince can read pdf files)

gvfs: Version: 0.2.5-1
nautilus: Version: 2.20.0-6

Accessing files over smb is possible.

Well, you can enter anything you want but the dialog only opens local
files or bookmarked locations.

Sorry for my late reply.
Now I use cifs mount in /etc/fstab but if you want, i can try on a virtual
machine.
Have you a prefered version (stable ? testing ?)

Sorry again for my late reply.

I have just tested on a fresh virtualbox machine with debian wheezy 7.5 and
gnome3.
Everything works, i can mount my network folder using nautilus and read PDF
files with evince.

 I haven't installed anything in specific :

The problem with inability to open remote URIs in GTK file open dialog
should now be fixed. On the other hand, the file dialog has been
'improved' so you have to jump through several hoops to display the
location bar to which you can enter them.

The other problem was with glib requiring a domain for mounting a samba
share although domain is not required to mount it in some cases. I don't
think this was ever fixed.

Either way I gave up on all this and went back to curses and sudo mount.
