hello,

I've got a well structured PDF manual with index tree and internal links,
which I converted to DjVu using djvudigital and gsdjvu 1.3. All went fine,
except that
1. index tree is lost (ok, that's another bug's subject)
2. links are lost
so I tried same conversion with pdf2djvu and, while 1. above holds still
true, the resulting DjVu had the internal links (jumps from index to content
etc.).
I deem it an important bug, as links are important infomartion that should
be preserved.

thanks

This meets the technical criteria for a "normal" severity, or perhaps
even "minor" or "wishlist". Although I do gather that it is important
to the submitter, and will treat it accordingly.

gs-djvu is not in debian therefore I have tagged this bug won't fix and reported upstream.

I have also tagged this bug + patch because it seems lenny version pdf2djvu keep bookmark. Please reopen
bug #509266 if not.

I will close this bug report in a few days, if you agree.

Without a test document, I cannot be sure.
However I strongly suspect that this is the same issue as
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1997033&group_id=32953&atid=406583

In other words, the pdf link handling in gs is insufficient.
Gsdjvu (which is not a debian package) is based on the pristine ghostscript.
Nothing will happen until somebody fixes gs, and until we build a new
gsdjvu on the basis of the fixed ghostscript.

As mentionned by ubanus in the sourceforge bug report,
it is possible to combine gsdjvu graphics accuracy
with pdf2djvu better handling of pdf files.
Of course this is a tweak..

Eventually the solution would be to port or recode the better
gsdjvu rendering into pdf2djvu. This could happen if AT&T agrees
to adjust the gsdjvu license, or if the patent expires...
