I have Use autoscrolling set.  When I click with the middle mouse button, it
enters the autoscrolling mode, and while I'm in it, the multimedia keys from my
notebook (HP dv 2000) doesn't work.

No.  I tested now with my Lenovo R61i and iceweasel 3.5.6-1, and it has
the same problem.

My Window Manager is XMonad ...

... but it's not it that is handling the multimedia keys.  I'm using
XMonad inside GNOME, so it's the gnome handler for this sort of thing.
If you want any tests with other window managers or desktop
environments, fell free to ask me to do them.

Actually, I could reproduce with the equivalent of the multimedia keys
on my laptop.
