Hi,

I have several lines in my fetchmailrc file. Some of them use imap
to retrieve the mail. If I use the idle keyword on the first line
all other mailboxes do not get checked anymore.

What I would like to see is:
- all mail boxes with idle in idle it keep the connection open.
- The others get polled (every 300 sec).

I agree this behaviour is not really optimal.

Matthias, what do you think about that? Do I miss anything
and this is already possible?

Cheers

But documented, quoting from the manual page:

Currently impossible. Fetchmail is single-threaded and does not
otherwise multiplex connections. It would require major changes to
the fetchmail structure so that 6.3.X will not see such changes.

The wording is confusing as it suggests fetchmail is not able to idle on
multiple folders. It is not actually clearly written that this also
implies that it does not support running idle on multiple accounts.

In case user does not want to change the config file, fetchmail just has
to be started as many times as there is of accounts with a different
--pidfile for each instances.

It fills bad but it is perfectly understandable once user knows that
fetchmail isn't threaded.

Hi everybody,

I found an interesting solution for this issue at the
Ubuntu-Bug-Tracker:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fetchmail/+bug/1021699

For each imap "session" a single configuration file is needed and a
single daemon will be started. Each single daemon could use the idle
command.

Not very nice, but well working for me.
