As I understand, clicking on the tray icon when the buddy list is visible can
invoke two different behaviours:

 - If the buddy list isn't fully visible (e.g. covered by other windows) it is
   moved to the topmost layer in the WM, making me able to see it.
 - If the buddy list IS already visible, it is minimized to the tray.

I have found, that the latter feature is unavailable, when the buddy list is
unable to make it self completely visible, either because it's behind "always
on top"-windows, or if it's moved partially out of the screen.

This behavior changed for the worse several months ago, not sure about
the version when it broke (currently on unstable, pidgin 2.5.8-1+b1). I
am using Metacity and Gnome.

1) if the buddy list window is on another workspace and is visible,
clicking the tray icon does nothing.  If the buddy list window is
invisible but was last on another workspace, it will appear on the
current workspace when the tray icon is clicked.

2) if the conversation window is on another workspace and is visible,
double-clicking a buddy in the buddy list appears to do nothing... until
you hit Alt-Tab to switch windows, and then the conversation window is
on the window switch list of every workspace!  Selecting it draws an
outline of the window on your current workspace... but does nothing
else, the window is still on the other workspace.  If the conversation
window is minimized, double clicking a buddy name will cause it to
become visible on the current workspace.

Hi,

This sounds more like a Window Manager Bug to me, maybe we should move
this to the gnome package. Does it still affect you in the latest
version, or can it be closed?
