Is it possible to remove dependency on libthai0 or change it to
suggests/recommends? I will hardly work with thai language texts.

We generally strive to minimize dependencies, don't we?

Isn't the burden of proof on the other side: why would
a generic internationalization library depend on support
for one particular language?

Are there any technical obstacles to removing this
dependency?

How would a patch be viewed by the maintainers?
