Hello,

I own an iBlue 747a+ device, MTK-based, so here are some questions for you (I'm
currently using mtkbabel)

These are covered by mtkbabel too ;).
Regarding other points:

In what way? Does it have some "client" software for those devices?

Err.. maybe that's not much important for us, I suppose:)

Can it also download AGPS data from the Internet?

Thank you,
David

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of bt747 back from ITP
(Intent to Package) to RFP (Request for Package), because this bug hasn't seen
any activity during the last 6 months.

If you are still interested in adopting bt747, please send a mail to
<control@bugs.debian.org> with:

 retitle 533589 ITP: bt747 -- GPS data logger software, allows download, convert, and configure MTK Chipset Based Devices.
 owner 533589 !
 thanks

However, it is not recommended to keep ITP for a long time without acting on
the package, as it might cause other prospective maintainers to refrain from
packaging that software. It is also a good idea to document your progress on
this ITP from time to time, by mailing <533589@bugs.debian.org>.

Thank you for your interest in Debian,

Hi again,

Of course, if you are still interested in packaging this, I can give it
to you back. Or we can do it together :-)

Cheers,
Mònica

FTR,

I packaged bt747 but I think it doesn't fit in debian for now. Why?
Here you have some reasons:

* It uses some libraries that are not in Debian yet: swingx-ws.jar,
jchart2d-3.1.0.jar and sanselan-0.97-incubator.jar.

* It seems that one of the embedded jars (swingx-ws) is not the original
library, but a modified one and I can't find the source code..

* In some files there is external source code with different licenses. I
should examine them with more detail.

* Embedded libraries are not updated. I patched some code to adapt it to
Debian libraries.
 But I don't know if upstream plans to update jars, so Debian
maintenance would be
much easier.

So, after working on it, I uploaded it to an unofficial personal
'home-made' repo (if you want to take a look, you're welcome) [0]:

Now, I want to contact with upstream developer and see if we can
collaborate to fix all items exposed above.

Repository:
deb http://dunetna.probeta.net/debian testing main
deb-src http://dunetna.probeta.net/debian testing main

To add them in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/dunetna.list:
$ echo -e "deb http://dunetna.probeta.net/debian testing main\ndeb-src
http://dunetna.probeta.net/debian testing main" | sudo su -c "cat
want.

If you want to add my key to apt:
$ gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys 1A49C0D2
$ gpg --armor --export 1A49C0D2 | sudo apt-key add -
$ sudo aptitude update

FTR,

I contacted with upstream and he was very responsive :-)

Some problems are solved or will be, but I need two exernal libraries
that are not in Debian:

* libjchart2d-java: there is an ITP[0], hopefully we'll have this!

* libsanselan-java: I requested for it [1]. It would be great if someone
would like to package it (maybe Debian Java Team?). I had a look at it
and it's built with Maven.

Cheers,
Mònica

Neither the old website nor the new website is available anymore. The
repository on Sourceforge had the last activity in 2011. The software is
written in Java. The mentioned devices are supported by mtkbabel as well.
I don't think it makes sense to package this software for Debian anymore.
As nobody seems to be willing to port it to a current version of Java, I
am closing this RFP now.
