After messing up my system press enter too quickly in dselect I would REALLY like if
dselect would snapshot the state of the system before as you enter it. Once you get
to the screen asking to you want to proceed with the installs and/or remove you should
be able to revert to the state when you entered dselect. Typing Y would commit the
changes, typing R would revert all changes made this run. Would also be nice if the
revert was a menu option.

This would give dselect a much needed safety-net. Since dselect seems to be what
debian will use for the next year or so this net would be VERY much appriecated.

It would indeed be nice to do that in dselect. You can also do it
easily on the commandline using dpkg --get-selections and --set-selections.
