I noticed somewhat behavior of the mouse cursor in X.

When I start my X session the cursor is not visible for some reason.

My X session has pretty much only rxvt-unicode and gkrellm running in
xmonad, and if I move the cursor over the rxvt-unicode it shows.

However, if I start xscreensaver-demo without moving the cursor it stays
invisible while moving it over the xscreensaver-demo window. I can see
the buttons prelight but not the cursor.

Switching to rxvt-unicode, moving the cursor, and switching back
resolves the issue. The xscreensaver-demo shows the X default black
cross cursor, not an arrow or such.

Upstream considers this a feature - the cursor remains invisible until a
client explicitly sets a cursor. Usually this should happen at the
latest when the window manager starts.

If you don't like this, try passing the -retro command line option to
the X server, or bring it up upstream.

I can't reproduce this behavior, do you have this kind of issue any longer?
