When choosing Liechtenstein as country, the pre-selected mirror should be a swiss one instead of a german one.

thanks
choose-mirror falls back to the default set for the selected language,
which I guess was German.

But with Liechtenstein as country, the first value in the language list
should be de_LI [1].
So, we could solve this if we're willing to add an exception by manually
adding a de_LI PO file for choose-mirror with as only translation the
strings that set the default mirror country to "CH".

Because we'd add it directly in the package, it would not affect
translation statistics.

Christian: do you see any problems with that?

Cheers,
FJP

[1] Except it isn't, see #560045. So I'm blocking this BR until that is
resolved.

We never did this before but I can't think of any problem implied by
this trick. Maybe size considerations and the fact that this would set
a precedent and thus lead to other such exceptions, leaving things
less and less maintainable. Hopefully, though, that case will remain a
corner case (which speaking about Liechtenstein, is a funny word to
use...).

single line in the udeb for mirror/http/countries:
Default-de_LI.UTF-8: CH

I'm not all that afraid of that. IMHO providing correct defaults is more
important and the implementation is fairly clean.

Unfortunately this trick does not work. It looks as if a default for a
language is only used if there is a valid translation for the relevant
template. Which actually makes sense.

I'm leaving the request open in case someone else thinks of an alternative
solution.

Cheers,
FJP

Hi

Thanks for the response.
I just opened another bug report and I don't know, if the problem there
is somehow related or not. Could you have a look at it?
This is the bug number: #560107

Greetings
Josef
