Sometimes mails with an attachment fail to be marked as "containing an
attachment". What I mean is that the attachment field in the list of headers
(not in the message preview pane) isn't marked with the little attachment icon
while it should. Consequently it is sometimes harder to find 'that particular
email' containing an attachment at a glance.

Is it fully reproducible with particular emails? Could you forward us
such an email so we could try to investigate? Any kind of attachment is
concerned or only some of them? Did you see a specific scheme?

When receiving such a new mail the attachment icon is shown until I
select it to be displayed in the message preview pane. Some of these
attachments are office files, some are pdf files, some are jpeg files.
At first I thought that it was because the files were automatically
displayed inline, but as I said some of those are office files
(documents and spreadsheets) and the bug still happen with such mails.
In the end I have many emails that should have been marked with an
attachment but haven't. I'm forwarding you one of those emails, with an
attached image.

Indeed this seems to be the reason.

I am having the same issue and it only happens with documents that have
the following in the message source:

0M8R4KGxGuEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOwADAP7/CQAGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABAAAAXwAAAAAA
...
...

Documents sent with the following source:
0M8R4KGxGuEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPgADAP7/CQAGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABAAAAAQAAAAAAAAAA
...
...

Display correctly.

It seems that thunderbird likes to use inline mode instead of
attachement. I do not know if it is because the file was dragged and
dropped by the user that sent the email though.
