Today I tried using brasero (on 2 different computers) to obtain an image file from a dvd. I opened brasero and chose disc copy. Then chose "Image file" as target but the button 'Create Image' remained grayed out and I couldn't use it to get the image. Alternatively I had to do as root: dd if=/dev/dvd of=dvd.iso which worked without problems I tried with a CD, and it worked fine, though only two formats were available: cue and toc, no iso...

I tested this again after the version of cdrdao in unstable was migrated to testing. I still have the same problem! Brasero doesn't create images from DVDs!
the bug is still presents. Thank you very much Piviul
Hello, Had exactly the same problem. Just found a solution installing brasero-cdrkit package. Think Debian should adapt dependencies to, at least, recommend this package. Regards, Jean Baptiste
Confirming Message #27 as a fix on Debian Squeeze amd64, Brasero 2.30.3, cdrdao_1.2.3-0.1_amd64. Brasero dependencies should be corrected, or at least meaningful error messages should be used.
* Placed DVD to copy in burner. * Pressed button labelled "Disk Copy" in Brasero. * Error message "Please replace the disc with a supported CD or DVD". * There is no way of selecting the image file, or of making it copy.
I am also able to replicate this issue. Resolved by installing brasero-cdrkit as suggested by Jean Baptiste
Same problem (unable to copy DVD to DVD or image because of greyed buttons), same solution (installing brasero-cdrkit).
