Hi,
I got the error "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional...."

and I read the page

http://support.mozilla.com/zh-CN/kb/The+bookmarks+and+history+system+will+not+be+functional?givefeedback=1

as last test I have deleted .mozilla but the error is still here!

The only change from the last time I have used firefox is one or more
apt-get dist-upgrade.

I have a notebook with the same configuration and in the notebook I
have no error. I tried to copy .mozilla directory from notebook to
desktop computer but the error is still here!

Thanks
Marco Righi

Firefox often shows the red sign (The bookmarks and history system will
not be functional ...).

The problem exist if the profile of firefox is loaded using a directory
mounted by NFS.

As wrote, the problem is not resolved using the followings:

- delete places.sqlite and places.sqlite-journal
- delete .mozilla directory

NFS home directory has not been supported by iceweasel/firefox since it
started using sqlite to keep track of history and bookmarks.
There is unfortunately not much that can be done here, except maybe
have sqlite enhanced to support NFS.

I am running homes via nfs since ages and neither firefox3.0, nor
all the iceweasel variants did ever refused to start. So there must
be a way that it works. My exports are not changed since 3years now
and unexpected yesterday firefox refused the described procedure.
With no tricks iceweasel is unusable!

Linking ~/.mozilla dir from a local fs helps but ist not a solution!
