At this step of the squeeze development, we no longer recommend using alpha1 releases. GRUB issues, particularly, should be tested with latest releases. You can find daily builds from http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer. Please preferrably choose the *netboot* image (not netinst). Despite its name, it is not reserved for people who use network boot servers. It is indeed just an "as minimal as possible" image that downloads components off the network as soon as the network is up and running in D-I.
(answering to the bug report and leaving your full answer so that it's recorded....as your answer was only a private message to me) Quoting sdfsdfsdf ewfwdfsdf (spamfang1199@yahoo.de): Please provide the full installation log (you'll find it in /var/log/debian-installer on the installed system).
I packed the whole /var/log/install folder into a tar.gz.
Today I tested a beta2 netinst cd installation on a system with an already existing windows xp. The installation went fine so far, including: - win32-loader to start the debian-installer in graphical mode - resize of the ntfs partition Regarding bootloader installation: I was told that windows xp was detected on the system. But there is no entry for it in the grub menu. I will send the installation logs to this bugreport (that mail will not reach the debian-boot list because of the big attachment). Holger
Here are the logs. Holger
