It would be very helpful if the Release Team could get bug reports on bugs of severity >= important on package versions in proposed-updates sent to debian-release@lists.debian.org as a Cc. Could this possibly be implemented in the BTS? That way we wouldn't miss regressions before they get possibly installed into stable. I could imagine the same for versions coming from security going to the Security Team, but I obviously cannot speak for them.
Currently, the BTS doesn't know anything about package versions which are in proposed-updates unless they're also in unstable. We'd need coordination with ftpmasters to get this information first. The other issue is that you all would only see mails from bugs which happened to fit that criteria at the instant that the message to the bug was sent; you'd still need to examine the bug listings for the packages anyway.
