I'm using Inkscape to edit PDF files, which generally works very
well. However, if the PDF file has text containing a ligature,
e.g. fl (together as one glyph), Inkscape replaces it with another
character, e.g. f.

I know Inkscape doesn't yet handle embedded fonts in the PDF, so font
substitution is taking place. However, I'm pretty sure the
substituted font has the ligature defined.

I attach the example I have been using. On my system, I'm pretty sure
the font is being substituted with Times New Roman from msttcorefonts.
And this font does define a glyph for the fl ligature.

I say "pretty sure", as I'm not sure how to tell for sure which
substitute font Inkscape is using.

Any ideas?

cheers,
Simon
