i've just tried compiling webkit with directfb and was wondering why the build dependencies are fragged. i encountered this:
The reason for disabling the DirectFB backend immediately after nothing in Debian depended on it was, that the backend is a) marked experimental by upstream, b) completely unmaintained upstream and c) is quite buggy. If you (or someone else) starts maintaining it upstream and gets it into shape again I can enable it again.
2010/10/18 Sebastian Dröge <slomo@circular-chaos.org>: oh dear! hum that bodes well for the project i'm working on. well - it might happen. yikes, what the heck are embedded projects going to use??
That's a good question but apparently there are not that many embedded projects that need something like DirectFB... otherwise one of these folks would have already started to improve the cairo DirectFB backend already. Or the GTK DirectFB backend.
