QEMU 0.12.x has dropped support for kqemu. This has left users of system with CPU without hardware virtualization support without possibility to run QEMU with acceleration. As it seems, there is no possibility to have kqemu support reintroduced to the mainstream QEMU, I'd like to suggest keeping the older, ver.<0.12 QEMU in another package (qemu-old, qemu-legacy, qemu-kqemu?) which could installed in parallel with the new one.
merge 576797 601973 thanks this is unfortunate, yes... it's too much maintenance, especially considering security bugs, to continue to support an outdated branch of qemu. we've already got qemu-kvm, which is at least based on a very similar version, and xen-qemu* (not sure what version it's based on). as an alternative that doesn't require hardware acceleration, consider trying virtualbox-ose. live well, vagrant
