Hello. In emacs23 23.2+1-7 & epiphany-browser 2.30.6-1, "EN DASH" & "EM DASH" are wrong with ttf-motoya-l-maruberi.
tags 614255 upstream confirmed clonse 614255 -1 reassign -1 ttf-motoya-l-cedar retitle -1 ttf-motoya-l-cedar: "EN DASH", "EM DASH" and "dagger" are wrong thanks Hi, Thanks for your report, confirmed (and l-cedar seems to have same issue and it has wrong "dagger" glyph, too). I'll ask upstream author to fix this issue.
Acked by upstream author. I would report next week.
Hi,
Upstream replied to me, they say "it is NOT issue in our fonts itself
because that don't have such glyphs - "EN DASH" and "EM DASH" ".
When I tried to check, I used gucharmap and uxterm, it shows wrong glyph
as attached pictures. And after I got reply, I checked with fontforge
and confirmed they are true.
So, now I'm confusing - what caused this issue?
- Motoya L-{cedar,maruberi} don't have "EN DASH" and "EM DASH" glyphs.
- fontforge shows it, too.
- However, gucharmap, uxterm and other applications show wrong glyphs.
Comments are welcome.
Right-click the character in Gucharmap and it will show from which font the glyph is taken. You probably have some broken font that gets used as fallback for those characters for some reason. Regards, Khaled
Hi Khaled, Thanks for your quick reply, I didn't know this feature. Then I tried with wrong glyph and it says "It's Motoya-L-Cedar" - itself, not fallback to others!
Hi Hironori, I've checked this with gucharmap and it says "EN DASH" & "EM DASH" are provided with DejaVu Sans font. 1. run gucharmap 2. select "モトヤLマルベリ3等幅" from list 3. select "EN DASH" (U+2013) 4. right click shows which font is used 5. do same to "EM DASH" (U+2014) Could you try and tell the result to me, please?
