When suspending with the bluetooth turned off the bluetooth device cannot be
initiated (turned on) after resuming. Even though using a gnome applet for
enabling bluetooth or blueman they show the bluetooth is enabled, no devices
are shown in the menus and no connections can be established.
When suspending with the bluetooth turned on the bluetooth is initiated
automatically and there is no problem with connecting to the bluetooth devices.
I have not tested hibernate function as I had not yet get it working.

This is a big issue for me as I tend to use a bluetooth keyboard for the slate
tablet PC  I'm using everyday at school.

This problem is kernel side, I think.
Maybe this problem is revised with the following patches.

Hi,

This bug still exists in bluez version 4.94-3. I have more information
regarding it. After resuming from suspend or hibernation of my Lenovo IdeaPad
S10e bluetooth is turned off, weather it was previously turned on or off. If it
was on in the gnome-bluetooth, after resuming from suspend/hibernation it says
it's on, but it doesn't have any option nor device to connect to. After
restarting bluetooth daemon with sudo service bluetooth restart, everything
works fine. But if it was or before suspend/hibernation, and after resuming,
gnome-bluetooth says it's off, then restarting of bluetooth daemon doesn't
help. It works only after clicking on gnome-bluetooth icon and turning it "on".
But the real "on" state is only after restarting the bluetooth daemon. I hope I
wasn't too confusing.

Hi !
This bug bothers me to. So, I'll put some more info. I have another
Laptop, with Debian Squeeze - That laptop is a HP Compaq nx61100.
The Bluetooth chip is recognized as "HP" but I suspect it is the same
cheep as the WLAN chip (intel 2200). On this laptop blue-tooth
suspends and resume flawlessly also with Debian Squeeze. See
Identification of the chip with lsusb -v below.

I am writing this message from my newer laptop which is a Clevo W830 with a
Bus 008 Device 002: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd
Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode). On this laptop the chip is off after
suspend.
It is not recognized after suspend. retarting bluetootd and even
removing the kernel modules and reloading them does not help.
See identification below.

I checked with the kernel 2.6.38 from backports, but it does not
really help. However, I still suspect, this is actually a bug in the
Kernel driver issue, mainly because with a higher quality chip it does
work.

Let's hope we can figure this out and patch the kernel correctly.
