I'm running Debian Squeeze on a Marvell Sheevaplug, and I'd really like to install Debian directly to NAND memory. The mtd-utils package contains all the tools needed to do that that aren't already in the installer, and the existing method of putting a Debian install on the internal NAND is a pain in the rear. I'm in no real hurry to get this fixed right now, but it would be nice for future releases like Wheezy. Jonathan Lane
Would you like the package to have a udeb version like the one that is referenced at https://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/MTD#MTD_utils ? Is there still interest in this?
Hello, I have interest. I'm working to unbrick my NAS and having the mtd-utils available in the installer would simplify this. Thanks Uwe
Hello, Just quickly talked about this issue in #debian-boot. kibi pointed out that this would likely require a second build to not introduce a dependeny on selinux. Best regards Uwe
armel is gone from the archive but there are other architectures where this would be useful.
