Resume after suspend and hibernate doesn't work sometimes. About one
resume per ten suspend/hibernate fails: screen is black, fan is working
at high speed and there is no response for keyboard/mouse.

Tested it on 2.6.32 from stable and 2.6.38 from testing.
I tried to copy /var/log/messages:

But when resume fails, there are no lines after 'suspend' in saved log
(after hard reboot).

Please tell me if I can provide more details/tests.

On exactly same HP Probook (not mine) with Ubuntu resume also doesn't
work after suspending when closing the notebook. The difference is that
the fan is not working during resume like in my case.

BTW, resume worked after pm-suspend, but I tried it only once.

I just have the same problem on a ThinkPad X201s with Kernel 2.6.32-5-amd64.
Suspend/Hibernation sometimes works but sometimes it also just shows a black
screen after booting. (Fan is working.) After hibernation I also saw the
message "BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 61! [pm-hibernate:7317]" in loop
so that it didn't turn off automatically.

Just some hardware-info as attachment (lspci and cpuinfo)... I hope that
this will help you fixing the problem.

Same problem, but on Fedora on an HP ProBook 4535s.
It seems to happen more often than just 1/10 -- more like every time I
suspend.
To get back to the desktop, I need to push the power button to suspend
again, then push it again and then it works fine.
