I am not competent to evaluate the patch, and believe it is better
handled upstream.  Did you try to forward it upstream?

I did notice this strange part, though:

Is the correct value really 'latter' with an 'a'?

Most likely a typo, I'm pretty sure I've only used it with A4. But it's
been quite a while since I last used mutt and muttprint.
