I'm running gnome 3 on a system with an older intel graphics card
which i need to run in fbdev mode to avoid kernel/X11 lockup. this
system therefore enters gnome 3 in fallback mode.

To launch a terminal from the keyboard, i use the following keystroke
sequence:

 Alt+F1
 DownArrow
 RightArrow
 UpArrow (until Terminal is highlighted)
 Return

As the result, a gnome-terminal window opens, but it does not have the
keyboard focus.

The keyboard focus appears to be retained by the Applications menu,
and i can't release it without using the mouse to click on
Applications or Places some odd number of times until focus goes back
to normal.

Feel free to reassign to a different package if it makes sense.

Regards,

I can’t reproduce it with the latest metacity and gnome-panel packages.
Can you?

hm, i don't have such a system running at the moment (the system that i
had is out of commission for unrelated reasons). If i can get such a
system back online, i'll test it out.
